FCC Know Your Customer – Minimum Verification Information

Based on FCC regulations (specifically FCC 21-105) and industry best practices from the Cloud Communications Alliance and Numeracle, the minimum information required for Know Your Customer (KYC) verification in telecommunications focuses on establishing the identity, legitimacy, and intended use of services by customers.

Before you begin: This form collects the minimum “Know Your Customer” (KYC) information we’re required to obtain before enabling calling/texting services.

  • Have your legal business details and EIN ready.
  • Provide a physical business address (no PO Boxes).
  • If you’re authorizing use of U.S. phone numbers, be prepared to upload supporting documentation.

Regulatory Context

The FCC requires voice service providers to “take affirmative, effective measures to prevent new and renewing customers from using its network to originate illegal calls, including knowing its customers and exercising due diligence in ensuring that its services are not used to originate illegal traffic.”

The FCC does not prescribe exact information fields but requires that steps be “effective” and “reasonable.”
