You have to use a UniFi OS Console with the UniFi Protect app in order to operate your cameras. Ubiquiti offers four console options: the Dream Machine Pro / SE, the Dream Router, the Cloud Key Gen2 / Gen2 Plus, and the UNVR / UNVR Pro. You’ll also need a compatible hard disk drive (HDD).

There are a lot of Ubiquiti camera options that serve different purposes, and most people combine multiple models for a robust home or business security system. Doorbell cameras are popular with homeowners, but the other cameras are great for securing other entrances to your home or office.

Live streams can be viewed without any storage, but if you want to store footage, you’ll need a compatible HDD. Ubiquiti recommends surveillance-grade CMR drives with at least a terabyte of storage.
